Miyazu:
· Student Exchange:
· Golf Tournament: October 4, 2008 at the Delray Beach Golf Club. Registration starts at 7:15 a.m., Scramble/Shotgun at 8:00 a.m., then lunch and awards at 1:00 p.m. Mr. Barcinski reported that we have 16 teams playing, 20 hole sponsors and 27 raffle prizes to date. He thanked everyone who has volunteered to help on Saturday.
· Moshi: See Sister Schools.
Sister Cities Sculpture: Mr. Gene Fisher, President Pineapple Grove, asked to talk to the Board about a piece of artwork with the theme of “3 Sisters” for Pineapple Grove with the thoughts of putting it somewhere around the Old School Square Parking Garage. He said he had verbal commitments from Arts Advisory Council, Pineapple Grove and what he thought was Delray Beach Sister Cities Committee for $3,000 each. Mr. Fisher was told that the Sister Cities Board had not done this, that Charles Hardiman had been pursuing the artwork. David said that the Board will talk to Mr. Hardiman when he returns to get the matter worked out and get back to Mr. Fisher.
Sister Schools: Oz put a packet together to present to the Education Board on December 1, 2008 (Oz will email this to the board members to digest and bring their thoughts back to the next meeting). He feels that each school that participates should have their principle on board and each have 2 ambassadors that would work with their Sister School. Oz also drafted a proclamation (attached) that outlines our intent for the Sister Schools program and would like this to be signed by the Mayor and Commission.
